We can see in the picture that a woman called Mrs Edwards is trying to defend herself from a burglar. She is defending herself by hitting this man with a chair. She hits him so many times and so hard that she ends up killing him. Mrs Edwards can say that she acted the way she did because it was in self defense, that she didn´t meen to kill him, that the situation got out of hand or that she thought that he was going to kill her.
From the evidence in this case, the victim is the woman who tries to defend herself from a burglar with a chair.
She hit a number of times in a violent attack against the burglar. When she realised that the burglar was unconscious, she took advantage from the situation and tried to asked for some help from her neighbours.
When she was opening the door, she realised that the burglar was trying to raise from the floor and she didn't have other alternative that runaway and asked for some help but when she was in front of the stairs, she fell down and lost the conscious.
Finally, when she returns in her mind, she was on his bed and there was two policeman who wants to take declaration. The lady wtold us what have happened.
The fact is that the burglar took advantage from te situation and he get away, so the two policeman, after the declaration, have to look for and arrest the burglar to prevent other attacks to ther people.
Mrs Edwards lived in London and she was a homemaker. It was a friday morning and she was alone at home: her husband was working in the factory and their little girl Susan was at the school (she had started classes three weeks before). Mrs Edwards was cleaning the kitchen when she heard a strange noise coming from her daughter’s bedroom. She went into the bedroom and saw that the window was broken and a dirty man armed with a truncheon was turning upside down the drawers of Susan’s bedroom. Mrs Edwards started screaming and the burglar stood up and approached the woman. Then, she took the chair that was next to the door and hit the burglar in his head. The burglar fell down and he hit his head with the little night stand that Susan had next to her bed. The burglar was still and bleeding in the floor. Mrs Edwards was astonished, and, after a few minutes, she approached the man and she realized that he was dead. After a few moments, some neighbors started calling at Mrs Edwards’s door. Then the police arrived at her house. They wanted a declaration and Mrs Edwards told them the truth. The police noticed that what had happened was a justifiable homicide. The woman acted in self defense.
Mrs Edwards was at home than normally, it was 12 o'clock in the night and she heard a noise down stairs. Then she was afraid because she heard like a person walking on the floor....that why she called the police to come.
Her husband was not there because he was in a trip with his company and he wouldnt come this night.
She started to think what can she dooo!!and then she took chair from de bedroom and went down stairs...the noise came from the living room and then she saw a man looking all the places where she can put money or value things.
Then she put behind of him and hit him very hard, since he didnt move...
She stay there a few minutes doing nothing, only looking what did she do...she was in shock!
5 minutes later she heard the siren of the police coming to her house and she began to be very nervous!!she was saying: "what i had doing???!!!! "and she went and touched the burglar and....he was dead...she began to cry and to say to the police who had just entered to the house: "ohhh!!i don't want to go to the prisonnn!!please it was in self-defensee!!believe mee!!"
So the, a few weeks later the court say to him that she is not guilty because it was with provocation and in self defense because when she didnt hit him, maybe he do it...then its ok!
